Lindsborg winter refreshments are being made for you.  
Winter serves up the chance to regroup, restore and explore.  It’s time to try something new.
To that end, Small World Gallery, the Lindsborg Community Library and other Lindsborg businesses and organizations are in the process if building a new series of classes and gatherings focused on January through March. These low-key moments are intended to bring relaxation as well as open doors.

Swedish Kurbit Designs

Carla Griffith’s Wilson of Lindsborg is one of the few US artists practicing Swedish kurbit painting.  Kurbits are decorative and stylized leaves and flowers of the gourd plant, an historic Swedish folk art symbol of heavenly protection.  Learn kurbits history and meaning, as well as practice on paper beginning strokes of this painting style.  We will provide paper and paint, loan appropriate brushes, and provide snacks.

Book Repair 101

A book can be a good friend, always ready on your shelf. Sometimes that well-loved book needs a little attention. Come practice what it takes to repair and freshen a book. Not a complex process to learn, but Suzanna's tricks of the trade are mighty useful to know. No cost, no reservations needed.

Screening the film Hidden Figures

Join in a relaxed evening with this biographical drama about three brilliant African-American women at NASA -- Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe). The three serve as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn (Glen Powell) into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation's confidence, turned around the Space Race and galvanized the world. Hang out after and talk about what the film means to you and hear others' perspectives.

Introduction to Bookmaking

Lindsborg artist Briana Zimmerling's handmade books have been a popular feature at Small World Gallery for several years. Now Briana has kindly offered to teach a class in which you will make your own 36-page book using the decoupage medium called Modge Podge and artists' papers. This class is limited to six people. Fee is $25 for all materials, including a couple of handy bookmakers' tools to take home.

Bead Soup: Adventures in Jewelry Design

IBISwoman Jewelry designers will serve up for your consideration bowls full of mesmerizing Czech pressed glass beads. Select and combine them with Japanese seed glass to design a colorful, light necklace of 24 inches or less. Instruction, beading wire, sterling silver clasp, light-hearted creativity and dessert for $30 plus local tax.
